ABSTRACT

Business and economics related databases and data sets are the most vital resources for supporting scholarly research and the curriculum at colleges and schools of business, and these resources evolve rapidly and are subject to significant price fluctuations. In this study, the top-ranking U.S. universities according to the U.S. News and World Report with Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accreditation were surveyed about their subscriptions to databases, WRDS data sets, and Bloomberg Terminals to create a benchmark. In this survey, these institutions were also asked to provide information about funding source or cost-sharing changes and cancelations brought forth by budgetary pressures from COVID-19. The intent was to provide a snapshot of the impact of COVID-19 but to also provide guidance to institutions facing similar budgetary pressures in a future financial crisis. ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Systematic reviews (SRs) provide the highest level of evidence and inform evidence-based decision making in health care. Earlier studies found association with industry to be negatively associated with methodological quality of SRs. However, this has not been investigated in SRs on vaccines. METHODS: We performed a systematic literature search using MEDLINE and EMBASE in March 2020. The results were restricted to those published between 2016 and 2019 with no language restrictions. Study characteristics were extracted by one person and checked by an experienced reviewer. The methodological quality of the SRs was assessed with the AMSTAR 2 tool by multiple reviewers after a calibration exercise was performed. A summary score for each SR was calculated. The Mann-Whitney U test and Fisher's exact test were performed to compare both groups. RESULTS: Out of 185 SRs that met all inclusion criteria, 27 SRs were industry funded. Those were matched with 30 non-industry funded SRs resulting in a total sample size of 57. The mean AMSTAR 2 summary score across all SRs was 0.49. Overall, the median AMSTAR 2 summary score was higher for the non-industry funded SRs than for the industry-funded SRs (0.62 vs. 0.36; p < .00001). Lower ratings for industry funded SRs were consistent across all but one AMSTAR 2 item, though significantly lower only for three specific items. CONCLUSION: The methodological quality of SRs in vaccination is comparable to SRs in other fields, while it is still suboptimal. We are not able to provide a satisfactory explanation why industry funded SRs had a lower methodological quality than non-industry funded SRs over recent years. Industry funding is an important indicator of methodological quality for vaccine SRs and should be carefully considered when appraising SR quality.

ABSTRACT

The aim of this study is to analyse the level and determinants of women farmers' access to financial resources in agriculture in Kosovo. The study describes the socio-economic characteristics of women farmers and identifies the socio-economic factors that influence access to financial resources. Primary data were collected from one hundred forty-six (146) women farmers who had access to a source of finance using multistage random sampling. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics, Likert scores, and probit regression estimates. 61.94% of the women had a farm size between 0.2 and 1.0 hectares and had an average farming experience of 8.33 years. The majority, 40.48% of the respondents, had formal education. They had a relatively high number of sources of finance through "family savings" and did not have access to finance through "borrowing from family members". The probit regression estimation showed that education level, gross annual income, and net worth each exerted a significant positive influence on the probability. This implies that the relevant institutions in the country should develop policies and programmes for women farmers with low levels of education, income, and net worth.

ABSTRACT

Over 85% of Cameroonians use building informal sector mechanisms which involve a disorganized and varied workforce, types and qualities of materials from various origins with unclear supply networks, supported by a wide range of funding sources. Although previous work enabled us to master these mechanisms, their complexity is accentuated by sustainable development requirements and sanitary measures. Sustainability concept deals with fields to respond to social, economic and environmental challenges but its operationality in building encounters many difficulties due to informal mechanisms complexity. Dealing with this environment recommend taking advantage of Building Information Modeling, especially the assets of artificial intelligence (AI) to get appropriate, rapid, and diversified assistance. In this paper, we propose a concept of intelligent building sites management combining knowledge base, information system capitalizing on previous best practices and achievements to organize several construction sites in real-time with all requirements including those of SD goals and covid-19. © 2022 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.
